FPL OFFERS HELP
From a letter received from Florida Power & Light Company:
There are two Federally Qualified Health Centers near South Miami where school children can be vaccinated.
One is CHI - South Miami Health Center (305-252-4820) and the other is JMH - Rosie Lee Wesley Health Center (786-466-6900). Both of them want appointments to be made.
FREE HOTEL ROOMS FOR SELF-ISOLATION
First responders who need to have a safe place to shelter may get a free hotel room.
There are a number of instances where sheltering in isolation is a good idea. Note that the Chief of the Municipal First Responders department must call in for his or her personnel: 305-310-9101.
If someone is home-bound due to illness, age or disability, an appointment for in-home testing can be made at the following web-site: https://www.miamidade.gov/311direct/#/covid19HomeTesting.
FREE FACE MASKS
Probably the most important way we can stop the spread of Covid-19 is to wear a face mask. Miami-Dade Public Libraries have free face masks for the public.

CHANGES TO THE CITY CHARTER
Two questions about changing the South Miami charter will be on the November national elections ballot. One is asking South Miami residents to indicate whether or not they would like the City's elections to be moved to the same day as national elections (from February to November). The second is asking whether South Miami residents would prefer that the number of Commission votes to change zoning throughout the City go from a unanimous vote (5 of 5) to a super majority (4 of 5). For each of the questions there a reasons for and against either choice.
I know as a mayor, I should not say were the police might be lurking, however, this once:
Take care, stay healthy, be safe.
